“We used to have socials that benefitted organisations alike. We are trying to revive that social spirit and raise awareness for our local organisations.

Rest-A-While and Remme-Los shared the spoils of the day in monetary donations,” said event organiser Theresa de Villiers.

“We want to see more events and more people, businesses and organisations contribute. We will continue to raise awareness on the needs of these two local organisations,” said Villiers.

Carreira added that the centre is still in need of assistance.

“Our primary needs are food, clothing and reusable items. It is almost a year without sponsorship or funding from the government.

“Last year we received donations from the Primrose Bowling Club and Bikers which went a long way,” said Carreira.
