Local NPO donates stationery packs to Grade 12 learners

The second part of it is the sourcing and distribution of resources to those in need.

His Outstretched Hand, an NPO, celebrated the launch of their first initiative of the year, the Best Foot Forward programme.

The NPO was established on Christian values and is headed by Natalie Paidamoyo Neshena of Primrose.

As part of their programme, they gave donations to 42 Hawk Academy matriculants on February 09.

The Best Foot Forward programme, according to Neshena, is split into two sections.

“The first part consists of conducting workshops to give young people the necessary tools for their academic endeavours and life lessons.

“The other half finds and provides resources to those who need them,” said Neshena.

“We began at the school because most of Hawk Academy’s learners are from informal settlements.

“They will have all the tools necessary to learn effectively, so they won’t have to worry about running out of stationery,” said Neshena.

Neshena expressed her excitement at finally seeing this project come to fruition, saying it has always been near and dear to her.

“Even though our organisation is still in the registration process, we are confident that nothing will be able to stop us from having a great impact on our community. The world needs tiny heroes like us, as well as every hero and heroine in the world, in some small manner.

“Our organisation’s mission is to empower, educate, inform, and assist young people in becoming the best versions of themselves. We want individuals to say things like, ‘God has remembered me today, and I can achieve any dream I have’.

“I am from a Christian background, so most of the things I based them upon are from that foundation.

“Having someone come and give you something has always been pleasant in life; the relief that comes from it is quite substantial.

“I want others to be able to feel that way for themselves through the efforts of this organisation. Hopes are brought about by that feeling,” said Neshena.

Neshena is a Unisa biomedical student, a math, science, computer studies, and life sciences tutor, and she formerly attended Primrose Technical High School.

Fellow team member André Nsenga, who has an African Academy diploma in architectural technology accompanied Neshena.

The organisation’s future ambitions include a skills development programme, a sanitary pad drive project, and Light It Up.

Light it Up aims to secure LED lights for learners in matric to use during load shedding while studying at home.

There’s also a Friday soup kitchen and a winter blanket drive.
