City of Ekurhuleni invites locals to discuss the renaming of public facilities

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) invites residents to a meeting to discuss the renaming of public facilities in Ekurhuleni.

Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the CoE is on a quest to redress the injustices of the past and build social cohesion.

“The CoE is continuing to name and rename public facilities through participatory processes.

“The city’s Department of Sport, Heritage, Recreation, Arts and Culture has been tasked to facilitate the public participation process,” said Dlamini.

Among the facilities that will be renamed are Kaffirboom Crescent in Kempton Park, Wagenaar Road in Edenvale and Harmonie Road in Bapsfontein.

Details of public participation meetings will start at Klopper Park Hall in Edenvale on February 17 and the Elvira Rota Village Hall in Bapsfontein on February 24.

The final meeting will take place at 10:00 on March 2 in the Coen Scholtz Recreation Centre in Birchleigh.
