Local police and community pray for a safer festive season

Police, CPF and churches come together for a prayer session for a peaceful and safer festive season.

Bedfordview police officers and the Bedfordview CPF (BCPF) hosted a prayer session on December 13 at the police station.

The session included various local faith-based organisation leaders, police officers and CPF members.

The session kicked off with praise and a prayer for a safer festive season for the frontline workers working this festive season and the community in general.

Community leaders applauded the good work done by police officers in keeping the community safe.

Pastor Dave Boodhram of Living Waters Klopper Park said, “This is what we need. If we receive God first, everything will fall into place.

“Thank you for being there and being with us.

“Have no fear and put in the work, God is always with you,” said the pastor.

Various speakers formed part of the session with words of encouragement to the men and women in blue, as well as CPF volunteers.

Bedfordview acting station commander Colonel Sinothi Ndaba urged the various stakeholders to work with the police to make Bedfordview and surrounding areas a better place for all to live in.

He also thanked the participants for their unwavering support and commitment.

The station’s corporate communications officer, Sergeant Lillian Modiga said, “As we end the year, I would like to thank the CPF and the community for their support.

“We need all the prayers we can get because we never know whether we will make it home or not.

“Let’s continue this initiative as we head into the New Year.”

Organisations came together to pray for local police.

BCPF public relations officer Laura Ausker said they are looking into making the sessions monthly.

“Colonel Ndaba is focused on the work and working with the CPF and community.

“The word of God determines behaviour and passes in the protection, especially in these next few weeks.

“What we want to do is grow Bedfordview together and make it stronger,” she shared.

She added the community needed to work hand in hand with law enforcement and be aware of what is happening in their surrounding areas.

“And saying thank you where necessary.”
