Local rower awarded at University of Johannesburg

St Andrew’s rowing coach, Louise Basson, was awarded the best female athlete of the year at the UJ rowing awards.

St Andrew’s rowing coach and old girl, Louise Basson (2020), was recently awarded top sporting accolades at the University of Johannesburg’s rowing prizegiving.

She was awarded the Kirsten Macdonald (Old Girl, McCann 2006) award for the best female athlete, the Willy Morgan trophy for the best cox of the year, and the University of Johannesburg’s student athlete of the year (rowing award).

The school’s head of marketing, Caterina Cannone, said, “Incredible achievements, Louise. Congratulations, and thank you for still flying the St Andrew’s rowing flag high. We are lucky to have you on our team, coaching our current U16 rowing girls to follow suit.”
