Germiston artist drops her second single

“Through my music, I aim to create a space that allows people to feel their emotions in a world where true feelings are suppressed," said Emma.

Germiston resident Emma Temlett is living her dream of making music.

The rising star just released her second song, Messy, after her debut song, Claustrophobic, which was well received and is on rotation with Jacaranda FM.

The 16-year-old said the success of her first song motivated Messy.

GCN talked to her about what inspires her songs.

“My songs are my personal life experiences. I wrote Messy when I was completely love-struck by someone who was, in the long run, detrimental to my happiness. I found myself in a situation I could only describe as messy,” shared Emma.

She said music has always been her first love.

“I have a passion for singing and I recently started writing and I love it. I’m able to put my feelings into words and make a beautiful piece out of them,” said Emma.

She said she is excited about the music journey she has started and excited about sharing her music with the world.

“Through my music, I aim to create a space that allows people to feel their emotions in a world where true feelings are suppressed. I want to make people feel the way I feel when listening to good music – nothing heals the heart like a song,” said Emma.

The rising star has been working with platinum-selling and 3x SAMA-nominated producer and artist Daniel Baron at Hit Kitchen Studios.

“It has been amazing to work with the best in the industry because he understands the music scene but also allows me to do my thing,” said the youngster.

Since she released her first song, Emma has had the opportunity to perform at the annual Redfest in July, sharing the stage with the likes of Mi Casa and Jesse Clegg.

Emma is preparing for her concert, which will be at the Hanger SAA Museum at Rand Airport, Germiston, on December 9.

“I’m excited about my upcoming concert as I’m raising funds for the production and release of my debut album.

“I chose Germiston for our debut event as it represents an inter-generational community for the Temlett family.

“My grandfather was at Boy’s High (as it was known), my father was at Germiston High School matriculating in 1983 and my sister, Dr Tania Temlett, is the local doctor in Lambton. The Germiston community is dear to me,” explained Emma.
