EMPD warns that vandalism makes roads unsafe for everyone

The theft or vandalism of traffic signs is directly linked to accidents.

The EMPD sternly warned against the deliberate damage and vandalism of traffic signs and signals.

Such acts imperil the safety of all road users because of their direct relation to the number of accidents and fatalities on public roads.

Noting the increased instances of purposeful damage and vandalism of traffic signs in and around the CoE, the EMPD was concerned about the potentially fatal repercussions that follow such acts.

The EMPD alleged criminals steal the steel signs to sell them at scrapyards.

With increased load-shedding, collisions and traffic delays were heightened because of the theft of the signs.

The EMPD urged community members to work with law enforcers to bring the criminals to book and ensure safety for all.
