His journey started in 2009 when he formed a group with a friend just to freestyle without a beat.

His latest release, in August, was a song titled Angisafuni lutho featuring Queen Vosho and Drag.

“The industry is diverse and as a producer you constantly have to be willing to adapt and learn.

“You must be willing to learn because that allows you improve on your craft,” said DJ Fifty.

His journey started in 2009 when he formed a group with a friend just to freestyle without a beat.

In 2011 he decided to record his first track with FC BOYS, a group he formed.

They recorded a song titled Ma Baby and it became popular locally.

“That song pushed me to invest in my music and I decided to move to Germiston in 2012 to pursue my music and it has been rewarding.

“I have met and worked with other artists and gained more knowledge on how to mix and master music,” said DJ Fifty.

In 2016 he started his own recording label, Three Million Records.

“I started off with just a laptop, headphones and two youngsters determined to make it in the South African music scene.

“Fast forward to 2019 and I had a fully equipped studio boasting some of my favourite instruments, such as the keyboard and guitar,” shared DJ Fifty.

He said what he has learned over the years is music is like any other business and if artists want to grow they need to educate themselves about the business.

“I had to market my music on social media and still drop off demos at local radio stations, but that was never enough. I soon realised although I am a talented rapper, people came to me because of my ability to produce quality music,” said DJ Fifty.
