Germiston organisation benefits from nappy drive

Mabitsela's goal is to assist mothers and newborns who require diapers, especially those from low-income households.

On Mandela Day, Ratile Mabitsela donated diapers to Chubby Chums in Germiston.

After the Miss Tembisa pageant director conducted a fundraising drive on social media and as previously reported by GCN, a donation was made on July 18.

The initiative benefited Chubby Chums, a child protection organisation based in Germiston.

The organisation was established in 1999 to assist in addressing the needs of children who have been abandoned due to abuse, illness, and destitution.

“The donation was made possible through Miss Tembisa Pageant and Mothapo Group.

“The mission is for someone to have frequent diaper changes which prevent severe diaper rash, loss of appetite, aureus, urinary infections, renal failure, and other complications,” said Mabitsela.

“A basic need is the availability of clean diapers,” she said.

“Giving back to the community is a wonderful way to make a difference and a kind gesture. We are glad we did manage to meet our target.

“When we contribute to others, we can cause a ripple effect, encouraging others to do the same, and thereby boosting generosity across our community,” said Mabitsela.

Mabitsela recently rose to fame on reality television as she pursued an acting career on the Mommy Club, a Showmax-exclusive programme.

According to Mabitsela, “Joining the Mommy Club has been one of the bravest actions I have ever taken.”

The mommy club focuses on showcasing the daily lives of modern mothers who run both their homes and businesses.
