Local church celebrates anniversary by giving back to community
Through our charity department we are able to assist the community.
Covenant Faith Ministries celebrated its 33rd anniversary by visiting the Driehoek Home for the Elderly on Rose Innes Road, donating food parcels and offering prayers for the residents’ well-being.
Ward 36 Clr Wendy Morgan joined the church in their efforts to support the underprivileged.
Pastor Howard Nyevera, representing the church, explained that the donation included groceries and toiletries such as salt, soup, and cooking oil.

“We provided food parcels to 16 elderly residents and gifted them King James Version Bibles in both English and Afrikaans,” said Nyevera.
The church, which runs a charity division, has faced challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nyevera noted that many church members were impacted, losing jobs or moving, which hindered their ability to assist the community.

He expressed optimism, saying, “Recently, we’ve seen fewer members coming forward for assistance, and things are improving.”
Morgan expressed gratitude on behalf of the elderly residents, praising the church for their thoughtful contributions.
“Initiatives like this are important. It’s the small acts of kindness that make a big difference in our elderly’s lives,” she said, encouraging more community support for the elderly.
