Germiston hip-hop artist set to drop new music

Kid Katt started DeeJaying in 2008. However, it was the boredom of performing other people's songs that inspired him to start making music.

Hip-hop artist Katlego Goodwill Seabelo, known as Kid Katt, is preparing to release his highly anticipated single Usutho 2.O on August 31.

The track, which blends hip-hop with African melodies, will feature a surprise guest musician.

The song tells the story of an up-and-coming artist’s struggles to achieve success in the music industry.

Kid Katt’s musical journey began in Mabeskraal, Rustenburg, but it was in Germiston where he truly honed his craft.

Influenced by the sounds of Msawawa and Mzambiya, thanks to his cousin Ofentse Seabelo, he developed a deep appreciation for music.

His passion for Zulu rap was ignited by Pro Kid’s Heads and Tales album, which broadened his understanding of the genre.

Starting as a DJ in 2008, Kid Katt quickly grew tired of performing other people’s songs, leading him to create his own music.

After being introduced to FL Studio by his friend Bish, he began producing original beats and remixes, gaining recognition in the Germiston music scene.

However, life’s challenges, including battles with addiction and depression, forced him to take a break.

While in rehabilitation, Kid Katt found solace in writing, using pen and paper to document his struggles and triumphs.

“My craft has no boundaries,” he said.

“My music conveys messages of hope, courage, inspiration, and shared life experiences.”

His previous single, Panda Revisit gained significant attention, amassing 1.6k streams in under 24 hours.

But for Kid Katt the true impact of his music lies in its ability to inspire and uplift listeners.

“One can’t help but be moved by the stranger who knew me from TikTok and shared how my music saved her from despair,” Kid Katt reflected.
