Pastor Dave Boodhram of Living Waters Gospel Church opened the ceremony with words of encouragement, followed by Dorothy Ntuli from the same church, who entertained the audience with contemporary dance.

The centre, previously a storage room, was transformed into a living room with a functional bathroom thanks to the efforts of Build It Bedfordview.

Franco de Sousa, manager of Build It Bedfordview, detailed the upgrades, which included painting, installing a new bookshop, plumbing, and a sink.

Vanessa Spassov, founder of the soup kitchen, added that the facility was also furnished and would serve as a relaxation room.

“The residents can play games, read books, or plan their sewing programmes. The facility’s care is entrusted to the residents of the village,” said Spassov.

Representatives from Martins Funeral Services, Shene Delport and Veronica Brink, supported the event with donations. Brink noted that they have recently begun providing essential support to help the soup kitchen become operational.
