Local dancers excel at 2023 SA Irish Dancing Championships
Edenvale dancer Nicholas Aikman secured fourth place in the South African Championships.
Irish dancers from the Shaw-Butler Dancing Studio (trained by Merryl Hofmeyr and Greg Moss) placed well in the 2023 SA Irish Dancing Championships held recently in Gauteng.
In the South African pre-championships (PC), the Edenvale dancers made the top four in all their age groups and gradings.
Anastacia Meyer was second in PC 5, while Anabella Alves secured fourth place in PC 3 (over 12 years).

Kayla Compton also came fourth 3 (U12), and Jocelyn MacKintosh won PC 1 (U10).
Skyla Costine came third in PC 2 (11 and under), and Christine Alves took third place in PC 3 (over 12 years).
In the South African Championships, Nicholas Aikman came fourth in the men’s category, Kirstyn Walker was eighth in the ladies over 16 category, and Claire Thompson placed ninth in the 14 and under category.
