Local golfer wins tournament

Balderstone Sports Institute learners excel at various sporting tournaments.

Vuyisani Makama has been crowned the winner of the BSI Junior Academy Cycle 3 36-hole Championship with scores of 66 and 73 for a -5 score.

The tournament was played at Royal Johannesburg West and East Courses from September 21 to 22.

Out of Makama’s last seven BSI rounds at Royal Johannesburg, five of them are under par with three of them in the 60s. The school congratulated the young golfer.

“Well done Vuyisani, keep up the great form and positive attitude,” said the school’s marketer, Roger King.
Personal bests:

Round one, West course: Kayle Turner (75) and Keisha Kagoro (79).

Loapi Chokwe won in a play-off at the Orapa Diamond Challenge, Ladies Championship Division.

King also congratulated Sean Paxton and his Central Gauteng Golf Union (CGGU) team who won the 2023 South African Inter-Provincial Tournament, which took place in East London on September 18 to 22.

The CGGU team were unbeaten with Paxton winning four of his five individual matches.

At the Orapa Diamond Challenge, in the Ladies Championship Division that took place from September 22 to 24, Loapi Chokwe won in a playoff while Maru Chokwe took second position.
