The race was held at the Italian Club on April 30 with a target of R250 000.

The Spartan Baby Badass Ultra brings the community together.

They have raised over R300 000 and are urging members of the public to continue to donate until the end of June.

Forty runners participated in the 100 km self-supported running race where 36 runners ran 4.167 km every hour, on the hour for 24 hours.

In addition, four runners ran 4.167 miles (or 6.7 km) every hour, on the hour for 24 hours to achieve the 100-mile (or 161 km) target.

According to organisers John Sikiotis and Roberto Riccardi, the runners were everyday non-professional runners doing it to test their limits in a safe community environment.

They said they wanted to do something that would be achievable for ‘weekend runners’, which prompted the backyard ultra race format.

“All money will go towards CHOC that helps children with cancer,” said Sikiotis.

Cows was started in 2008 by a group of eight enthusiastic cyclists keen to make a difference and raise money as an independent fundraising arm for CHOC.
