Elsburg community engage in a clean-up around substation

The community decided to clean up the area so that it is visible and that thieves have nowhere to hide.

The community of Elsburg put their aggravation with power outages into action by cleaning up areas where cables are often stolen.

Elsburg’s most recent power outage on April 7 motivated residents to take action against ongoing cable theft.

This came after the substation in Heidelburg was targeted by cable thieves. The area is plagued by overgrown grass and trees providing criminals with areas to hide.

The community decided to clean up the area to improve visibility.

Community members Deon Graaff and Lizi Rood rallied the community to work together for the two-day clean-up operation.

The second day saw residents from Lambton join the Elsburg residents and businesses in the area also volunteered to guard the cables.

After the clean-up was done at the substation in Heidelburg.

The community of Elsburg thanked Pandors, Dog Box, Elsburg Fish and Chips, Feinschmecker and Shawn from Caravan for supporting the clean-up.
