Beloved Edenvale stalwart passes away

Edenvale stalwart and community inspiration, Jackie Allen, passed away.

The 59-year-old wife, mother and grandmother died on the morning of April 8.

Her family confirmed the news to the Bedfordview and Edenvale News.

Known for her sense of community and willingness to help others, Jackie was seen by many as a pillar of support.
The news of her sudden death surprised and saddened many.

Since her passing, community members, friends and those she impacted took to social media to express their heartache, condolences and fond memories.

Countless messages describing Jackie’s selflessness, and willingness to support and empower others were shared.

As a modelling coach and the organiser of the annual Miss Edenvale pageant, Jackie was committed to empowering others and growing their talents and abilities.

She spent much of her time helping others and advocating for awareness through organisations such as the Catholic Women’s League and the Organ Donor Foundation.

She was also a member of Rand Road Warriors Edenvale.

Community members came to know Jackie as a valued resident of the town because of her work.

She is deeply missed.

A requiem mass was held on April 13 at St Thérèse Catholic Church at 10:00.
