The gogo has lived in Marathon for over eight years and counting.

With little to no mobility, Magagula usually stays indoors all day under the care of her two sons.

She said because of her age, she cannot move around a lot.

The Magagula family depends on Sassa grants to buy food and sustain themselves.

The Primrose SAPS corporate communications officer, Sergeant Styles Maome, said officers learnt about her after her sons recently visited the station to obtain an affidavit because they had lost their mother’s Sassa card.

“Two officers then escorted them home to speak to gogo. It was established that the boys tried to buy food, but the card was ‘swallowed’ by an ATM.

“The SAPS took the granny to the Post Office to get her money, and we later furnished her with the wheelchair, which had been donated to the station by a company,” said Maome.
