Dawnview High awards academic and sports excellence

Principal Moeketsie Kolokoto said it was through hard work and commitment by educators that they were able to achieve their objectives.

Dawnview High School hosted its annual awards on February 10 to recognise academic and sporting achievements.

Learners were awarded trophies and certificates based on their excellence.

Dawnview matric class of 2022 achieved an overall pass rate of 93%, which included 50 bachelor’s passes, 49 diplomas, 18 higher certificates and 42 distinctions.

Girls soccer team coach Brenda Mhlanga said 2022 was a great year of sports at Dawnview.

“We dominated in the Ekurhuleni Invitational League and Ekurhuleni Cup Tournament,” said Mhlanga.

Principal Moeketsie Kolokoto said it was through hard work and commitment by educators that they were able to achieve their objectives.

Grade 12 top three achievers were Katleho Seaga with an average of 81.85%, Nkosinathi Mudau with an average of 81% and Karabo Mashilo with an average of 78.85 %.

Grade 11 top achievers were Karabo Molefe, Thandolwethu Mangena and Naledi Kitime whilst the Grade 10 top three spots went to Lethabo Hlahla, Joy Ani and Benita Iboi.

Grade Nine top achievers were Relebohile Nkadimeng, Chantel Mongeni and Analufuno Mudau. Mathabo Mthethwa was awarded a trophy and a certificate as the Grade 8 overall top achiever title.

Chantel Mongeni with an average of 81% took second place in Grade Nine.

Sports

Kgomotso Reloeahae was recognised as the top goal scorer in the Ekurhuleni invitation league girls’ soccer along with Naledi Thage.

She also participated in district-level athletics and won gold at the GASA 5km cross country.

Naledi Thage was the school girls’ soccer captain and she was the awarded best player at the Ekurhuleni invitation tournament. She also received the most disciplined player award.

Lebo Phalane, Dawnview girls soccer defender, was recognised as a gold medalist in GASA 5km cross-country and for her participation in greater Germiston athletics.
