“Members of law enforcement will leave no stone unturned this year to seek justice and bring criminals to account for their crimes,“ said station commander Brigadier Nkhensani Lemba.

“Germiston station is not only the biggest but also a difficult one. This year we are sending a strong message to criminals to say that we are coming for them,“ said Lemba.

“Our theme for this year is A Year of Accountability. The focus is on ensuring that we have all stakeholders on board.

Ekurhuleni acting district commissioner Brigadier Lebohang Machakela and Germiston SAPS station commander Brigadier Nkhensani Lemba is sending a strong message to criminals across the city.

“The task ahead is a daunting and dangerous one. The city is dirty and criminal acts are looming.

“We need to clean the city and let the SAPS clean criminals from the streets. As much as we are capable as the SAPS, we cannot do the work alone,” said Lemba.

“The community must engage with the station and seek what volunteer positions are available. We have teams to join, including the Youth Desk.

“Last year, we launched a gender-based violence office. We continue to work with stakeholders in the fight against GBV, including Ekupholeni Mental Health and Trauma Centre,“ said Lemba.

To curb crime, she said they will continue with Operation Okae Molao operations, awareness campaigns and other community outreach programmes.

Ekurhuleni acting district commissioner Brigadier Lebohang Machakela said his role is to support the station with any activities and ensure that a safe environment is created.

“From time to time, we conduct multi-disciplinary events which include roadblocks, stop-and-search, and we provide manpower from station to station,” said Machakela.

“We have had our successes in the past, and it shows that whatever we are doing needs to be done more to keep the residents safe and our street clean.”
