Primrose police operations yield good results

Traffic fines to the value of R32 200 were issued to motorists.

The Primrose SAPS and various community safety stakeholders held Operation Okae Moalo at Primrose and surrounding areas.

Ekurhuleni District commissioner Major General Anna Sithole joined EMPD Superintendant Kobus Bierman, CPF representative Anne Mary Victor and Ekurhuleni station commanders for a briefing about crime in the area.

They were first briefed by the District Vispol commander Colonel Allistair Subramanian and then paraded the streets of Primrose before spreading across the town.

Another Operation Okae Molao was also underway at Edenpark policing precinct under the leadership of Brigadier Fredl Jonck.

The focus was on roadblocks, stop and search operations, police visibility and second-hand goods compliance checks.

“More than 220 suspects were arrested for various crimes during tracing operations,” said Ekurhuleni District communications officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela.

“Five suspects were arrested for dealing and possession of drugs and four illegal shebeens closed,” said Sekgobela.

“Second-hand goods dealers were fined R3 000 for non-compliance,” said Sekgobela.
