“I am also annoyed at how the case was initially handled and worried that ineptitudes by the original officers might affect the case.

Syd Syrett (75) will be missed by his family and friends for his sense of humour. He is described as a kind and caring person who loved to help others. He dedicated his life to his family and many friends and had huge integrity and loyalty.

“Fortunately, the current Sergeant Duomath and his partner Sergeant Calitz have been an incredible comfort since they took over.”

Claire added they wish for justice to prevail and shared how different life has been since the passing of Syrett.

“Life is difficult and terribly sad without him. He was a constant support for me, personally, and always gave the best advice,” said Claire.

“I miss his silly phone calls and ridiculous dad jokes. Sorting out his estate has hit us hard because our empty childhood home now serves as a constant reminder of his untimely death, instead of being the happy place enjoyed by our family for almost forty years.”
