First held in 2017, the golf day is used to generate funds for the Edenvale branch.

With the arrival of the new season, Edenvale SPCA invited the community to enjoy some fresh air and come together for a good cause.

Committee member and fundraiser for Edenvale SPCA Laura Vorster said this will be Edenvale SPCA’s first golf day in two years.

“The committee and volunteers are very excited to be hosting this event once again,” said Laura.

Like previous years the event will take place at Modderfontein Golf Course.

It will be held on September 22.

Funds generated from the event will go towards upgrading Edenvale SPCA’s facilities as well as covering overhead costs.

Laura said Edenvale SPCA plans on upgrading its kennels and its second-hand shop.

“The upgrading of our second-hand store will allow for greater long-term sustainability and help the branch generate income for the branch,” said Laura.

Funds from the day will also be used by Edenvale SPCA to conduct outreach work in communities such as Thembisa.

Laura said the SPCA will also use the funds to promote education and awareness around pet sterilisations and pet wellness.

To make the day a success Edenvale SPCA called on business and community members to sponsor a hole for the day.

Laura said holes can be sponsored for R1 000 each.

Alternatively branded prizes, gifts and raffle prizes can be sponsored to make the day all the more successful.

Examples Laura provided included drawstring bags, lip ice, sunblock, water bottles, hand towels, and golfer caps.

The cost per four-ball is R4 000, however, this will include a golf cart, dinner and prize-giving.

Laura said a reduced price of R3 200 is available, however, this cost excludes the golf cart.

To raise further funds Edenvale SPCA is preparing to sell its annual calendars.

Laura said the final designs were recently agreed upon and community members can expect the calendars to be available in the coming weeks.
