According to Colonel Lesomo of the Kempton Park SAPS, the roadblock was in alignment with community safety protocol for residents of Kempton Park.

“Operation Basadi focused on illegal firearms because we have realised that most of these days women are being killed and we are asking ourselves where those firearms are coming from,” said Lesomo.

Spokesperson of Kempton Park SAPS Captain Jethro Mtshali said the roadblock was dedicated to empowering not only the women in blue but the women of the community.
