Burning Stars FC player aims for professional level

Burning Stars head coach Philani Ncube said the player never misses training sessions and plays in all the games.

Burning Stars FC youngster Leslie Motoung has his eyes set on one day turning professional and representing South African soccer clubs.

He hopes to follow in the footsteps of his uncle who once played professionally for Bidvest Wits Football Club.

The Grade 7 learner attends school at Hawks Academy and is an all-rounder.

Passionate about soccer, he dreams of one day playing for Kaizer Chiefs or Manchester City in the English Premier League.

He started playing soccer at the age of six following in the footsteps of not only his uncle but his brother as well.

“My coach Philani Ncube taught me everything I know,” said Motoung.

“I am a left-footed player but I can play both. I am inspired by Lionel Messi’s story.

Leslie Motoung dreams of turning professional one day and play for the big teams in the country.

 

“I live in Makause informal settlement and I know I can one day buy my parents a house and give them a better life because Messi did it.

“He wanted to play soccer and in the process he got rich. All I want is to kick the ball and hopefully make a living out of it like Messi and many other soccer players.

“I also do athletics and represented Primrose Primary School.”

Burning Stars head coach Philani Ncube said Motoung never misses training sessions and plays in all the games.

“We used to chat about his plans. He wants to be a lawyer and play soccer professionally,” said Ncube.
