AC Milan crowned champions

AC Milan's first match was against Bombers FC on Saturday and the match ended 0-0 and went to penalty shoot-outs.

AC Milan Football Club’s senior team was crowned champions of the 1st Annual Councillors Games 2022 Kasie Tournament at Dukathole Stadium.

The two day tournament took place on July 30 and 31. It was hosted by the Ward 35 Clr Nthuthuzelo Mpambani.
The Tournament was a Top 8 tournament knockout format.

AC Milan’s first match was against Bombers FC on Saturday and the match ended 0-0 and went to penalty shoot-outs.

“The penalties ended 8-8 and the tournament organisers decided the match must be replayed the next day.

On Sunday we won 4-1 and went through to the semi-finals and won the match 2-0,” said Prince Ralushe, co-chairman.

The Tedstoneville-based side played the finals against Future Stars FC.

“The game was intense as the two teams held on to a draw. The winner had to be decided on penalties. AC Milan won on penalties 5-4 to win the trophy walking away with R7 000 prize money, new kit, a trophy and medals,” said Ralushe.

AC Milan coach Thato ‘Fish’ Tshabalala welcomed the win and encouraged his boys to keep the winning spirit.

“I am proud of my players. We had 14 players coming to this tournament and we had to play back to back matches,” said Tshabalala.

“Our matches were not the easiest matches to play but we prevailed.

“They deserve to win this tournament. This win will motivate them to play even better in the league,” said Tshabalala.
