Traditional healers from Germiston, Katlehong, Windmill Park and neighbouring areas attended the meeting.

According to Maxwell Mabunda, the spokesperson for the Germiston Police Station, the aim was to deal with crimes happening in the traditional healers’ space.

“This includes fly-by-night operators. Regulations and laws governing traditional healers were explained,” said Mabunda.

“We discussed issues affecting the community as well as GBV when it comes to their practice,” he said.

“Any person under the age of 18 has to have consent from a guardian to go to a certain practice and undergo their traditional training,” said Mabunda.

“The aim is to form a stakeholders forum where all our issues will be tabled and tackled going forward,” said Mabunda.
