The City of Ekurhuleni launched a meat safety campaign to prevent food-borne disease outbreaks caused by poor handling of meat products.

The launch held on June 8 was followed by other campaign activations on June 9 and 10.
According to metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, environmental health practitioners will, as part of the campaign, visited various food handling premises across the city to reinforce meat handling regulations through education and awareness.
“The campaign strengthened the activities already undertaken by the city’s environmental health practitioners through monthly regulatory compliance blitzes,” said Dlamini.

The campaign activations, held under the theme, ‘Safer food, better health’, were held in Vosloorus. Alberton, Katlehong, Daveyton, Langaville, Thembisa and Kempton Park Taxi Rank.
