Child Protection Week round-up in Primrose

Primrose SAPS, along with representatives from Victim Empowerment Centre and Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk, visited Primrose Primary School and two preschools in the area.

The visits took place on May 31 as part of the SAPS’ Child Protection Week campaign.

Sergeant Styles Maome, Primrose SAPS corporate communications officer, said police officers promoted a safer learning environment and taught the learners about their rights.

“At Primrose Primary School, children were also taught how to hoist and lower the flag of the Republic of South Africa,” said Maome.

Members of the Primrose SAPS taught Primrose Primary School learners how to hoist the national flag.

The campaign continued on June 4 when representatives from the GBV Brigade held a road show in Primrose. Children in all the sectors were visited and taught how to report criminal activities.

Maome said the roadshow also catered for children not attending school in the informal settlements.

“Sweets and snacks were donated by Chubby Chums, Carton Candy and Smart Supa Stores,” said Maome.

The station commander of Primrose SAPS, Colonel Eunice Nzuza commended all parties involved in making the roadshow a success.
