Police investigation yields conviction results

He was sentenced on April 25 by the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

Police were investigating a case of murder when Machethe was first arrested and detained.

The team consisting of Primrose, Bedfordview and Germiston Family Violence and Child Protection Unit yielded the conviction.

Sgt Styles Maome, Primrose SAPS communications officer said during investigations into a murder case, Machethe was linked to various crimes.

“He was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape. 15 years for direct imprisonment for murder, 15 years for possession of an illegal firearm. Five years for kidnapping and five years for pointing of a firearm at someone,” said Maome.

“The Germiston Magistrate’s Court ordered that all sentences run concurrently,” he said.
