The operation was joined with other departments ranging from the K9 Unit, Victim Empowerment Centre, Department of Community Safety and the Department of Basic Education at Hoërskool Elspark.

“Five classes from Grade Eight to 10 gathered in the hall where 70 girls and 55 boys were searched. Dogs were also used to search the bags for any illegal substances, such as drugs or dagga,” said Elsburg police spokesperson Dapheney Phooko.

She said no drugs, substances or weapons were found in the possession of learners or inside their bags. She said the principal appreciated the search and seizure conducted by the operation.

The next stop was an alleged problematic drug house where a search was also conducted, and no drugs were found.

The last stop of the day was Elsburg CBD, where a stopped-and-search was conducted.

“We searched those who stood on corners, using and selling drugs. Two hundred people and 20 motor vehicles were searched, and 250 pamphlets on school safety and GBV were distributed to learners,” added Phooko.

The acting station commander, Lt Col Thulane Manyoni, thanked all members who were part of the operation.
