The elections were scheduled for March 5 at the Germiston Stadium.

The new date of elections must be set within 21 days.

Following the postponement of the elections, Mandla Radebe, the CGA GM, condemned the actions of the members.

“Unacceptable disruptions and unwarranted behaviour will not be allowed. We have also picked up there was deliberate intension by some members to disrupt the elections,” he said.

“The number of ballot papers did not correspond with the number of voters. One delegate per club was supposed to cast their votes, but the election process was sabotaged,” said Radebe.

Radebe said to salvage the reputation of the province and create a credible free and fair election to take the federation forward, they have now appointed IEC to facilitate the elections.

The elections will be held on March 26 from 09:00 at the recreation hall at Germiston Stadium.

Radebe said requirements are:
• Only clubs in good standing may attend or vote at the CGA election session.
• Good standing will be determined by the affiliation status of 2022 and the number of permanent licences taken. (Minimum permanent licences per club are 25.)
• No nomination will be allowed from the floor.
• No proxies will be allowed on the day of elections, only present members will be allowed to vote.
• Voting delegates confirmed on the credentials must produce proof of identification before voting.

Clubs must submit their credentials of one voting delegate per club on the club letterhead, which must reach the CGA office via email (mandla@centralgautengathletics.co.za) no later than March 18.
