Lindiwe Khoso and her child Luyanda joined Ekurhuleni Tennis School of Excellence (ETSOE) at the beginning of the year.

“Work and school had created a gap between us and communication was not there, something was not right and we had to figure it out,” said Lindiwe.

“I did not play tennis before but it has been great playing under coach Loyiso Mantsha. We are now healthier and happier.

“I believe it is important for parents to connect with their children especially when they are teenagers. They need us to guide and help them pass through phases of being a teen,” she said.

Luyanda (16) travels with her mother to Germiston Stadium to attend their sessions every week.

She was first introduced to tennis while she was in primary school. She said she is not much of a sports person but tennis holds a special place in her heart.

“It refreshes your mind and puts your body at ease. I would love to continue playing and one day pursue it as a career and play for the national team,” said Luyanda.
