Rand Water to implement shutdown of G17 pipeline

The 50-hour maintenance work is scheduled to commence from 07h00 on February 18 to 09h00 on February 20.

Rand Water will undertake maintenance of its G17 pipeline to replace a damaged portion of the existing pipeline in Germiston.

The 50-hour maintenance work is scheduled to commence from 07h00 on February 18 to 09h00 on February 20.

“The decision to replace part of the G17 pipeline was necessary as it was damaged beyond normal repair. The maintenance work, which has two phases, will entail the replacement of an old scour valve and the connection of the existing meter to the newly constructed pipeline,” said spokesperson Justice Mohale.

“During this period, Rand Water will continue supplying water to the City of Ekurhuleni  but some meters that are directly supplied will be affected.”

Certain areas may experience intermittent water supply interruption or low pressure.

Areas that will be affected are Rand Refinery plant, Wadeville, Lambton, Dinwidie, Albemarle, Raceway Industries, Gosforth and Germiston South Industrial.

“In addition to the above impacted areas, the Rand Refinery, Barlow Industries and Russel Road reservoirs are also likely to be affected.”
