Rand Water upskills members of the community

Twenty-one local residents were trained in occupational health and safety and received national certificates in supervisor construction processes in December.

During the construction of G21 Rand Water Pipeline in Ward 36 in 2021, Rand Water as part of the social commitment assisted with the following.

• Local residents had the opportunity to be trained in various training skills, including construction estimates, plumbing and occupational health and safety
• Twenty-one local residents were trained in occupational health and safety and received national certificates in supervisor construction processes in December

Other projects that were completed at organisations in the ward included:
• Repairs of the corrugated roof at Chubby Chums
• Renovating the lapa at Elandsvallei Old Age Home
• Erected fencing at Rest a While Service Centre for the Elderly
• Outdoor windbreak for the babies play area, non-slip tiles on the front porch at El-Shammah Home for babies
• Replaced plumbing pipes at Remme Los Home for the Disabled
Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan said she was pleased with how members of the community and organisations could benefit from the project.

“As the ward councillor, I am thrilled that organisations could be assisted with projects to improve the surroundings for the residents that they look after and that young members of the community have been given skills and opportunities they can apply for employment with,” said Morgan.
