No power since September

"I have been calling the call centre since then and all their promises are empty promises."

Residents are concerned as power outages continue to plague the area.

“The problems the city faces are endless. It is one thing to another,” said Dinwiddie resident Jeanette van Standen when she reported her experience of power outages which last almost a week.

“I have not been without electricity since September 27. I have been calling the call centre since then and all their promises are empty promises.

“I have two grandchildren that I look after. They need to bathe, be fed and taken care of. I have my husband who is using his oxygen machine and he can’t as there is no electricity,” she said.

“The municipality thinks this is a joke, they promised to come but they never did. They are always quick to come and cut your power when you missed a payment.”

“We need a metro that will deliver services to the people,” said Van Standen.
