Crime prevention teams are continuing with raids under the leadership of Vispol commander Capt Matsobane Mokgopha in their policing precincts to recover looted goods.

Four suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen properties.

“When the police were conducting door-to-door searches, one fridge was found in Roodekop informal settlement, where the suspect alleged it is for safekeeping. He alleged he had bought it from unknown looters in the Phumola area as it was for sale.

“Following preliminary investigations, more suspects were found in possession of other stolen property, like furniture and groceries, and they were linked and arrested,” said Elsburg SAPS spokesperson Daphney Phooko.

All are pending for appearance at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges of possession of suspected stolen properties.

“We are urging the communities to stop buying stolen properties,” said Phooko.
