Winter Food Drive launched

Food donations to aid Child Welfare.

Germiston Child Welfare once again pleads for the support of the community as they announce their Winter Food Drive for this year.

While lockdown restrictions continue to weigh on the public, stomachs remain empty and loss of income continues to strain many households.

“The communities we live in remain our only lasting hope. With the spirit of ubuntu, we have demonstrated in the past that united against a common enemy, we can overcome all odds,” said Barbara Bouwer, director of Child Welfare Germiston.

Child Welfare Germiston urged residents to support its food drive.

“Many of our children, families and foster families need support and assistance at this time. The increased lockdown and the cold weather have created an urgent need for food donations.”

There are two options to make donations.

“We welcome any donations of dry, non-perishable items at our offices. Full Covid-19 protocols are in place,” said Bouwer.

“We procure pre-packed food parcels from Snippets Hampers. Our food parcels assist in meeting the most basic immediate needs of a family. If you would like to sponsor a pre-packed food parcel to the value of R520, you can do so.

“If you would like to place an online order with Southern SUPERSPAR for any of the items in the food parcel and any other items you would like to add, make payment and have the contents collected or delivered to our offices.”
