Construction of housing project nears completion

This project is said to set to change the face of urban housing in the Germiston CBD.

The City of Ekurhuleni’s Human Settlements, led by MMC Lesiba Mpya, is working with the Gauteng Provincial Government to roll out purposely planned and developed megacities.

These megacities aim to be self-sufficient in providing for the housing, economic and social needs of the community.

“The megacities are characterised by mixed-use housing, ranging from free low-cost RDP housing, affordable rental accommodation, as well as bonded housing, financed in partnership with the banks. The inter-governmental partnership in developing these human settlements is to ensure proper planning and provision of all required infrastructure services, such as water, sanitation, electricity, energy, roads and social amenities,” said Mpya.
