With the aim of raising awareness about the difficulties faced by the underprivileged children of Vusimuzi’s Tshepang Care Centre during winter, Kempton Park’s Malumz on Decks duo Oscar Nyathi and Mandla Mtshali have collected clothes, canned goods, blankets and non-perishable products to donate to the centre in Thembisa on May 9.
Nyathi said they started a winter drive to help these children so they can keep warm during winter.

“Lockdown has put a strain on shelters, and the cold weather adds to the difficulties, both in terms of the costs of staying warm and the opportunities to get outside to exercise and play – two essential aspects of childhood.”
Their mission is to bring hope to these children.
“It’s more than just food and clothes. It is also about emotional warmth, dignity restoration, respect, love and hope for a better future. “These children are subjected to the harshest aspects of life as a result of their upbringing in poverty. Children from low-income families are often denied their right to mental, physical and social growth. “We urge residents of Thembisa and Kempton Park to dig a little deeper and help with boots, scarves, caps and coats that no longer suit them. This is an opportunity to put these items to good use,” said Nyathi.
