Waste removal backlog caused by work disruptions

The waste removal backlog was caused by a work stoppage on Monday, March 15.

The waste removal backlog caused by a group calling themselves Ekurhuleni Business Forum is being addressed. City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the backlog was caused when worked stopped on March 15 in Katlehong, Thokoza and Vosloorus including parts of Boksburg South, initiated by the group of individuals.

“The group intimidated waste removal workers which interrupted services in those areas as a result.” Dlamini said work to attend to the backlog will resume on March 17. “This will be done after the officials have completed their morning rounds scheduled for Wednesday calendar days. ”
