AkukhanYa, in partnership with Out of the Box, a NPO, are raising funds to boost skills development.

AkukhanYa manages a centre in Germiston and Out of the Box works with skills trainers and unemployed youth.

According to AkukhanYa founding member Jacqueline Klem, all their training contracts were put on hold till January.

“Despite the lack of income, we have kept our doors open. We decided to launch a sweepstake competition to generate income for AkukhanYa and Out of the Box.

“This is for small entrepreneurs and identified families that need assistance over the Christmas holiday and into the new year.”

Jacqueline added the Christmas Wish List Sweepstake offers entrants a chance to win prizes.

“There will be weekly draws and social media draws as well. The prizes are something making this worthwhile. There 700 prizes valued at R250 to be won, 200 prizes valued at R500 and 90 prizes valued between R750 and R2 500. There are also 15 training contract prizes valued between R8 500 and R40 000.

“The cost of the ticket is R250 and for that you receive an 18A letter & B-BBEE Certificate from AkukhanYa and Out of the Box which you can use for tax purposes and to be used by your organisation for your B-BBEE scorecard.”

The money will also support small-scale entrepreneurs under the wings of Out of the Box and AkukhanYa.

It will also support community outreach projects over the Christmas season or New Year.

“A mask for every ticket sold, with an information pamphlet, will be distributed in densely populated areas over the holiday season to promote health awareness during this time.

“For every 20 tickets bought by your company, you have access to our HR information online video and documentation course for 12 months. This is a series developed and updated by skills developers who were in the business for over 20 years.
