A man was arrested at Thomas Nkobi Cemetery in Elspark when he was found in possession of a 9mm parabellum on November 22.
Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson, said the EMPD team patrolling on Old Heidelberg Road heard a gunshot coming from the cemetery and responded.
“Upon arrival, all entrances and exits were sealed off. Stop and searches were conducted on motor vehicles and pedestrians.
“The 38-year-old pedestrian was found in possession of the firearm as well as an empty magazine.”
Mokheseng said the suspect was taken to Elsburg Police Station and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm.
