Community receives a helping hand

Thirteen employees from Bedfordview and Germiston depots, who were initially employed in 2015 as litter pickers, collectively donated to Kasie Outreach.

Kasie Outreach, a faith-based initiative, received a stack of donations from the City of Ekurhuleni’s solid waste management department on November 27.

The 13 employees from Bedfordview and Germiston depots who were initially employed in 2015 as litter pickers collectively donated to Kasie Outreach.

The employees, who refer to themselves as Group of 2015 donated jugs, washbasins and preloved clothes which were collected from friends and family.

The employees said this donation is their way to thank God for the work by helping those in need.

These donations, according to Simphiwe Malunga of Kasie Outreach, will be donated to a few families in Germiston.

“We are grateful for the donations received and we hope more people can come on board to assist us in changing lives.

“We will be presenting these donations to less fortunate families, especially as Christmas is around the corner,” said Malunga.

“We commend Kasie Outreach for the work they do in our communities,” said Leah Mashamaite of CoE’s solid waste management department.
