Fitness boot camp for a good cause

Primrose resident Angel Baloyi and her friend are inviting residents to support them in collecting food for the needy.

Primrose resident Angel Baloyi and her friend are inviting residents to support them in collecting food for the needy.

They will be hosting a food gathering fitness boot camp session on November 28 at a park with gym equipment on Main Road in Fishers’ Hill.

The entrance fee will be non-perishable food items.

“It has been a difficult year for everyone. Most have not recovered from the effects of the pandemic and others even lost jobs. That means no food on the table.

“We want to help those in the community who have really fallen on hard times,” said Angel.

She said she was raised in a family that encouraged her to give.

“I was taught from a young age to give back, no matter how small, to the next person.”

The food donations will be donated to child-headed families and the elderly looking after their grandchildren.

Angel is also a member of the Primrose Youth Desk and said working with the community has exposed her to the challenges the community faces.

“Our community has a number of challenges – from poverty to unemployment and other social ills. As a community, we need to find solutions on how we address them and using the boot camp to gather food is a starting point.”

The boot camp will be held from 8am to 10pm.

Those who are interested should bring their own water and towel.
