Two drivers were arrested for speeding in Germiston during a crime prevention operation

Two drivers were arrested for speeding in Germiston during a crime prevention operation by the EMPD Speed Enforcement Unit members on November 6.

Kobeli Mokheseng EMPD spokesperson said Speed Unit officers arrested a male taxi driver in a white Toyota Quantum minibus for clocking 152 instead of 100km/h.

“In another case, a female travelling alone at 169km/h was arrested on a 120km/h zoned stretch.

“She was driving a silver Hyundai sedan, was on the N3 southbound by the Grey Avenue on-ramp.

“She mentioned she was late for work,“ said the officer.

Mokheseng added both offenders face charges of reckless and negligent driving.

“They were taken to Germiston Police Station.”
