WATCH: New zeal to serve the community

About 21 Germiston police officers received medals for 10, 20 and 30 years long service in a ceremony

Germiston SAPS presented their policewomen and men with long service awards on November 3.

About 21 Germiston police officers received medals for 10, 20 and 30 years long service in a ceremony hosted by acting station commander Col Maluvana Khosa on behalf of Brig Nkhensani Lemba, station commander for the Germiston Police Station.

“We would like to thank our recipients for their service. Those who received 10 year-service medals should gun for 20 years.

“They can only get to 20 years with discipline and respect. We wish them well and we know they will eradicate crime and make sure Germiston is a safe place.”

Col Mpyane Tsheoga commended the officers on their service while rewarding them with their medals.

Lt Col Mmaserame Mofokeng was proud to receive her 20-year long service award.

“I feel grateful for being appreciated by SAPS in this manner. I feel recognised and blessed for this milestone. We face a lot of negativity from the public.

“I started in 1995, serving in Kathorus during the Katlehong and Thokoza wars. Those times were heartbreaking,” said Mofokeng.
Const Maxwell Mabunda, communications officer of the police station said the awards will motivate recipients to continue to do well.
