Kenzie shines at Mini Miss RSA

This is the first big national competition the four-year-old has competed in.

St Catherine’s learner and Denlee, Lambton, resident Kenzie-Leigh Pretorius has been crowned Princess Role model RSA 2020/21 at the eighth annual Mini Miss RSA 2020.

This is the first big national competition the four-year-old has competed in.

Kenzie’s mom said she is proud of her.

“I’m very proud and blessed. When she won I was emotional and filled with joy that she achieved such a title at her age. She was also excited and overjoyed,” said her mother, Dawn Pretorius.

Kenzie’s journey leading up to the competition took a lot of preparation.

She had to do charity work and fund-raising for a cause of her choice and also involved loads of training and coaching.

“I had fun at the competition and it was also scary, but I enjoyed myself,” said Kenzie.

Her mother said the competition can be stressful but the sisterhood that is formed between the girls is amazing.

Kenzie started modelling at the age of two, doing a local competition.

She was encouraged to enter Miss mini SA by her coaches Chantel and Charmaine Swart from Vogue Catwalk East Rand over a year ago as they saw potential in her.

Kenzie has over 30 wins under her name.

To name her few titles, she has been crowned Queen of the South, Miss Walkerville, Miss magical winter, Miss CPF Lambton, Miss Heavenly flower, Miss Face of spring, overall Most gracious, overall Pure heart, overall debutant at National Supermodel and overall charity for Vogue, and the princess plans to get more titles.

Dawn said since her daughter started pageants she has seen her blossom into a confident little girl.

“Kenzie has gone from being a shy child to a mature little girl. She is more respectful and more well-mannered in any situation. She has learned to care for other people and have empathy at a young age,” said Dawn.

As crown-princess, she has been offered the opportunity to compete internationally in 2022.

She will be competing at the Royal International Miss Role Model competition in Orlando, USA, in 2022.

“I’m proud of my little princess. We have both learned and grown together in this journey. We have been blessed at how she has come out of her comfort zone.

“She is very confident and able to chat with anyone. For me, it’s an honour for her to be able to walk and compete with other international girls on the same level and gain experience,” said Dawn.

Kenzie is raising funds towards her trip in July 2022 and is pleading with residents to donate.
