Couple arrested for possession of stolen vehicle in Germiston

They face charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and they will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.

A Toyota Yaris reported to have been stolen in December 2018 was impounded on October 19 on Johann Rissik Road, Germiston.

According to Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson, patrolling EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members arrested a woman and man after they were found operating a reportedly stolen vehicle in Germiston.

“The suspicious behaviour of the driver gave the law officials enough reasons to stop and search it after they spotted the driver zig-zagging on the road.”

Officers learned that the registration number did not correspond with the displayed license disc.

“The vehicle was impounded and taken to Van Ryn’s Deep, Benoni SAPS yard, for safekeeping,” added the officer.

Mokheseng said the duo was escorted to Germiston Police Station.

They face charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and they will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
