Man arrested for possession of pirated music and movies

Germiston SAPS communications officer Const Maxwell Mabunda said the suspect was found operating a pirating studio.

A man was arrested for contravening the Copyright Act on October 13.

Germiston SAPS communications officer Const Maxwell Mabunda said the suspect was found operating a pirating studio.

“He created fake DVDs and CDs and sold them to the public on Power Road in Germiston.”

Mabunda added the man was arrested by the Germiston Task Team.

“The suspect was detained at Germiston Police Station and will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon. As Germiston SAPS, we still maintain it is a crime to buy pirated music and movies,” said Mabunda.
